The Central Council cannot dictate to individual county boards how to run its championships and it shouldn't either. However it should insist with these new changes that county teams cannot stop players from playing club games on designated weekends. Also with the All Ireland championship now completed by the end of August, it gives all counties to get the championship played by the end of September. County players would not be allowed play for their clubs from the middle July until their team are knocked out so for once club players will know when they definitely won't have games and can therefore plan their potential holidays around having clarity on certain dates.
Provincial councils must have their
championships played by early November.
Therefore this enables All Ireland
club championship to be completed pre-Christmas and the club championship to finish in the calender year.
